How to Organize Smart Home Devices by Room

Streamline your smart home ecosystem by grouping devices into rooms for easier control and automation in the Apple Home app.

1. Open the Home app and select the Rooms tab. Launch the Home app from your Home Screen. Tap the Rooms icon located in the bottom navigation bar to view your current room layout.
2. Access the Room menu. Tap the ellipsis icon (three dots inside a circle) in the top-right corner of the screen. Select Room Settings from the overflow menu to manage your room list.
3. Assign accessories to rooms. Return to the main Home tab and long-press on any accessory tile that is not yet assigned. Select Accessory Settings from the menu that appears.
4. Select the target room. Locate the Room field within the Accessory Settings menu. Tap it to display the list of all configured rooms, then select the appropriate room for that device.
5. Verify placement. Tap Done to save your changes. Navigate back to the Rooms tab and swipe between rooms to ensure the device icon appears in its correct designated space.
