Create One-Button Smart Home Shortcuts with Apple Shortcuts
Streamline your home automation. Learn to create one-button smart home shortcuts on iOS to control devices instantly from your Home Screen.
- Initialize the Shortcut. Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone. Tap the plus (+) icon in the top-right corner to create a new, blank shortcut.
- Add Home Actions. Tap Add Action. In the search field, type Control Home and select the action from the results. Tap the blue Home accessory text to select the specific device or scene you wish to trigger.
- Define Command Parameters. Set the device to the desired state, such as Power On or Brightness 50%. Tap Done to save the action configuration.
- Customize the Shortcut Appearance. Tap the downward arrow next to the shortcut name at the top of the screen. Select Rename to give it a clear label, then choose Choose Icon to select a glyph and color that matches the device function.
- Add to Home Screen. With the shortcut still selected in the edit view, tap the Share icon at the bottom of the screen. Select Add to Home Screen from the share sheet, then tap Add in the top-right corner.
