Installing Smart Locks and Alarm Sensors

A precise guide to installing smart locks and alarm sensors for enhanced home security. Follow these steps for professional-grade setup and configuration.

  1. Verify door compatibility and clear the site. Ensure your door thickness is between 1 3/8 inches and 1 3/4 inches. Remove existing hardware by unscrewing the interior mounting screws and pulling the lock assemblies from both sides of the door.
  2. Install the deadbolt and exterior assembly. Insert the latch bolt into the door edge with the bevel facing the door jamb. Align the exterior keypad assembly so the tailpiece passes through the latch hole, ensuring the wire passes under the latch assembly.
  3. Secure the interior mounting plate. Route the wire from the exterior unit through the slot in the interior mounting plate. Align the mounting plate with the exterior unit and secure it using the provided machine screws.
  4. Connect the interior motor and calibrate. Connect the wire harness to the interior motor unit and snap the motor onto the mounting plate. Insert the required batteries and allow the lock to perform its automatic handing calibration process.
  5. Mount contact sensors on entry points. Clean the door frame and door surface with isopropyl alcohol. Remove the adhesive backing from the contact sensor and magnet, aligning the indicator marks on both pieces so they are less than 0.5 inches apart when the door is closed.
  6. Sync devices with your smart home hub. Open your smart home app and select Add Device. Scan the QR code located on the lock interior or inside the battery compartment to initiate pairing. Follow the on-screen prompts to name the device and assign it to a room.
