How to Install a Ring Video Doorbell

Follow this step-by-step guide to mount and configure your Ring Video Doorbell for secure home monitoring. Includes wiring and setup instructions.

  1. Charge the internal battery. Connect the Ring doorbell to a USB power source using the provided orange charging cable. Wait until the LED ring on the front of the device glows solid blue, indicating a full charge, before beginning the mounting process.
  2. Set your mounting height. Position the mounting bracket at your desired location, ideally 48 inches from the ground. Hold the bracket against the wall and use a level to ensure the device will sit straight.
  3. Mark and drill pilot holes. Use a pencil to mark the screw locations through the holes in the mounting bracket. Remove the bracket and drill holes into the wall using the provided drill bit for masonry or wood surfaces.
  4. Secure the mounting bracket. Align the bracket with your drilled holes and fasten it to the wall using the provided mounting screws. Ensure the bracket is flush against the surface and does not wiggle.
  5. Attach the doorbell to the bracket. Slide the Ring doorbell onto the mounting bracket by hooking it into the top slots and pressing the bottom until it clicks. Tighten the security screw at the bottom using the star-shaped end of the provided tool.
  6. Complete setup in the Ring app. Open the Ring app, tap 'Set Up a Device', and select 'Doorbells'. Scan the QR code located on the back of the doorbell or the quick start guide to link the device to your Wi-Fi network.
