How to Connect a Smart Camera to Wi-Fi

Follow these steps to connect your smart camera to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and begin live monitoring.

  1. Verify your Wi-Fi frequency. Most smart cameras operate exclusively on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi bands. Access your router settings to ensure your 2.4GHz network is active and distinct from your 5GHz network if your router uses band steering.
  2. Power the device. Connect the smart camera to a power source using the provided adapter. Wait for the status LED to blink, indicating the device is in pairing mode; if it does not blink, hold the reset button for 10 seconds.
  3. Launch the companion app. Download and open the manufacturer's dedicated application on your smartphone. Create an account or sign in, then select the Add Device or + icon to initiate the discovery process.
  4. Sync network credentials. Select your Wi-Fi network from the list provided in the app. Input your Wi-Fi password carefully, as most smart cameras do not support special characters in passwords and will fail to connect if an error is made.
  5. Finalize device registration. Wait for the status LED on the camera to turn solid. The app will prompt you to name your camera and assign it to a room; select your preferences to complete the integration.
