How to Fix a Video Doorbell That Does Not Ring

Troubleshoot and resolve a silent video doorbell. Follow these steps to restore chime notifications to your phone and internal doorbell unit.

  1. Check the power supply. Ensure the doorbell is receiving adequate voltage from your transformer. Open your doorbell app, navigate to Device Health, and confirm the voltage status displays as Good or displays an active battery percentage above 20%.
  2. Enable app notifications. Open the doorbell app and navigate to Settings followed by Notification Settings. Ensure that both Ring Alerts and Motion Alerts are toggled to the On position for your specific device.
  3. Toggle Do Not Disturb mode. Confirm that the Motion Snooze or Do Not Disturb feature is disabled within the device dashboard. These modes suppress incoming alerts for a user-defined duration.
  4. Reconnect to the Wi-Fi network. A weak signal prevents the doorbell from pushing alerts to your router. In the app settings, select Device Health and choose Reconnect to Wi-Fi to force the device to re-establish a stable connection.
  5. Perform a power cycle. Remove the doorbell from its mounting bracket and disconnect the power source or remove the battery pack for 30 seconds. Reconnect the device to initiate a full reboot of the internal firmware.
