How to Customize Smart Home Scenes

Master your automated environment by customizing smart home scenes for lighting, climate, and security triggers in the Apple Home app.

1. Open the Scenes tab. Launch the Home app from your Home Screen. Tap the Rooms tab at the bottom of the interface, then select the Scenes icon located at the top-left corner to view all currently active scenes.
2. Select a scene to modify. Locate the scene you wish to adjust. Long-press the scene icon to open the configuration menu and select Scene Settings from the bottom drawer.
3. Configure device states. Tap Accessories to expand the list of assigned devices. Tap each device to toggle its specific state, such as brightness percentage for lights or target temperature for thermostats, and tap Done to commit the changes.
4. Set trigger conditions. Scroll to the Automations section within the scene settings. Select Add Automation to define when the scene activates, such as Time of Day, People Arrive, or when a specific sensor detects motion.
5. Save and verify. Tap Done in the upper right corner to save all modifications. Test the scene by tapping the icon once in the Home app to ensure every device responds as expected.
