Customizing Smart Home Notifications

Learn to manage and customize your smart home alerts to reduce notification fatigue and prioritize critical security and status updates.

  1. Access device-specific notification settings. Open your home management application and navigate to the Home tab. Long-press the tile for the specific device you wish to modify and tap the Settings gear icon located in the bottom corner of the device card.
  2. Define notification triggers. Select the Status and Notifications menu. Toggle the 'Activity Notifications' switch to enable or disable alerts for this device, then define the specific state changes—such as 'Open' or 'Closed'—that will trigger a push notification.
  3. Set time-based notification constraints. Navigate to the 'Time' section within the notification settings. Select 'Only At Certain Times' to create a schedule, ensuring you are not disturbed by non-essential sensor triggers during late-night hours.
  4. Configure location-aware alerts. Enable 'People' settings to restrict notifications based on presence. Select 'Only When Nobody is Home' to suppress alerts while family members are actively moving within the household.
  5. Audit global notification permissions. Exit the home app and navigate to your device Settings. Locate the app entry and verify that the notification delivery style is set to 'Immediate Delivery' if you require high-priority alerts for security hardware.
