How to Build a Morning Smart Home Routine
Automate your wake-up sequence using Apple Home. Streamline lighting, climate, and news briefing to activate with a single command or time trigger.
- Create the automation sequence. Open the Home app on your iPhone. Tap the plus icon (+) in the top right corner and select Add Automation. Choose A Time of Day Occurs to set your wake-up time.
- Set the trigger parameters. Select your desired time and repeat frequency. Ensure 'Every Day' is selected or pick specific weekdays. Tap Next to proceed to the accessory selection screen.
- Choose your morning devices. Select the smart bulbs in your bedroom and the thermostat. Tap Next. Adjust the individual state of each device, such as setting lights to 30% brightness or adjusting the climate to 72 degrees.
- Include audio feedback. Tap Media and select your HomePod or AirPlay-enabled speaker. Set it to play a specific playlist or your favorite news briefing station. Adjust the volume slider to ensure it starts at a gentle level.
- Review and confirm settings. Review the summary of your routine to ensure all actions are listed correctly. Tap Done to save the automation. Test the routine by tapping the newly created automation tile in the Home tab.
