How to sign in to the Mac App Store

Learn how to sign in to the Mac App Store on macOS to manage your apps, subscriptions, and account updates with your Apple Account.

  1. Open the Mac App Store. Click the App Store icon located in your Dock. If the icon is not in your Dock, press Command + Space to open Spotlight, type 'App Store', and press Return.
  2. Locate the sign-in prompt. Look at the bottom-left corner of the App Store sidebar. Click the button labeled 'Sign In'.
  3. Enter your credentials. Input your Apple Account email address in the provided field and click Continue. Enter your password when prompted and press Return.
  4. Complete two-factor authentication. If you have two-factor authentication enabled, a verification code will appear on your trusted Apple device. Enter the six-digit code into the prompt on your Mac.
  5. Verify account status. Once signed in, the 'Sign In' button in the bottom-left corner will be replaced by your profile name or photo. This confirms your active session.
