How to Resize the Dock on macOS
Learn how to precisely adjust the size of your Mac Dock using System Settings or a hidden trackpad shortcut for maximum screen real estate.
- Open System Settings. Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen. Select System Settings from the dropdown menu to open the control panel.
- Access Dock settings. Locate the sidebar on the left side of the System Settings window. Click on Desktop & Dock to reveal the primary configuration panel.
- Modify the size slider. Find the Size slider at the top of the menu. Drag the slider to the left to decrease the Dock size or to the right to increase it.
- Use the resize handle. Locate the separator line on the right side of your Dock, near the Trash icon. Hover your cursor over the line until the pointer changes into a double-headed arrow.
- Enable Magnification. If you prefer a small base size but need visibility, toggle the Magnification switch to On. Adjust the magnification slider below it to determine the zoom level when you hover over icons.
