How to change your default web browser on macOS

Learn how to change the default web browser on your Mac to Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or any other installed browser in a few simple steps.

  1. Open System Settings. Click the Apple menu icon in the top-left corner of your screen. Select System Settings from the dropdown menu to launch the configuration panel.
  2. Locate Desktop & Dock settings. In the left-hand sidebar of the System Settings window, scroll down until you reach the Desktop & Dock section. Click this item to view its associated preferences.
