How to set up an Apple ID on a new Mac

A concise guide to configuring your Apple ID on a new Mac during the initial setup process or via System Settings for full iCloud access.

1. Initiate the Setup Assistant. Power on your Mac to launch the Setup Assistant. Follow the on-screen prompts to select your region and keyboard layout until you arrive at the Sign in with your Apple ID screen.
2. Enter your credentials. Enter your existing Apple ID email address and password. If you do not have an account, select Create New Apple ID and follow the prompts to register using a verified email address.
3. Verify with two-factor authentication. Check your trusted Apple device for a six-digit verification code. Enter this code into the prompt on your Mac to authorize the device for your account.
