How to Grant Screen Recording Permissions on macOS

Learn how to authorize applications to capture your Mac screen through System Settings security permissions. Simple steps to resolve recording errors.

  1. Open System Settings. Click the Apple menu icon in the top-left corner of your screen. Select System Settings from the dropdown menu to open the system configuration interface.
  2. Locate Privacy & Security. Scroll down the left-hand sidebar in the System Settings window. Click on the Privacy & Security tab to view your system's permission settings.
  3. Open Screen & System Audio Recording. Within the Privacy & Security panel, locate the Screen & System Audio Recording option under the Privacy section. Click the entry to expand the list of authorized applications.
  4. Enable the target application. Find your specific application in the list provided. Click the toggle switch next to the application name so it turns blue, indicating that permission is granted.
  5. Confirm and relaunch. Once you toggle the switch, macOS will prompt you to quit the application. Click Quit & Reopen to apply the new permissions immediately.
