How to Grant Screen Recording Permissions on macOS
Learn how to authorize applications to capture your Mac screen through System Settings security permissions. Simple steps to resolve recording errors.
- Open System Settings. Click the Apple menu icon in the top-left corner of your screen. Select System Settings from the dropdown menu to open the system configuration interface.
- Locate Privacy & Security. Scroll down the left-hand sidebar in the System Settings window. Click on the Privacy & Security tab to view your system's permission settings.
- Open Screen & System Audio Recording. Within the Privacy & Security panel, locate the Screen & System Audio Recording option under the Privacy section. Click the entry to expand the list of authorized applications.
- Enable the target application. Find your specific application in the list provided. Click the toggle switch next to the application name so it turns blue, indicating that permission is granted.
- Confirm and relaunch. Once you toggle the switch, macOS will prompt you to quit the application. Click Quit & Reopen to apply the new permissions immediately.
