How to Enable Dark Mode on Kindle Paperwhite
Enable dark mode on your Kindle Paperwhite to reduce eye strain during nighttime reading. Step-by-step instructions.
- Wake your Kindle Paperwhite. Press any button on the device or tap the screen to wake it from sleep mode. The home screen or current book will appear.
- Open the Settings menu. From the home screen, tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner. Select Settings from the dropdown menu.
- Find Display Settings. In the Settings menu, look for Display and Fonts. Tap this option to access the display customization settings.
- Turn on Dark Mode. Locate the Dark Mode toggle switch. Tap the toggle to enable it. The display will immediately invert to show white text on a black background.
- Confirm dark mode is active. Return to the home screen or open a book to verify the display has switched to dark mode. The background should now be black with white text.
