Transfer Data to a New iPhone Using Quick Start

Learn how to use Quick Start to wirelessly transfer your apps, data, and settings from your current iPhone to a new one running iOS 18.4.

  1. Prepare your current device. Ensure your current iPhone is connected to a power source and that Bluetooth is active. Keep the device unlocked and place it in close proximity to the new iPhone.
  2. Power on the new iPhone. Turn on your new iPhone and place it near your current device. A Quick Start screen will appear on your current iPhone offering the option to set up your new device with your Apple ID.
  3. Verify and pair the devices. Confirm that the Apple ID displayed is correct and tap Continue. An animation will appear on the new iPhone; scan this animation using the camera on your current iPhone to initiate the pairing process.
  4. Enter security credentials. When prompted, enter the current passcode from your existing iPhone onto the new device. Follow the remaining on-screen instructions to set up Face ID or Touch ID on the new hardware.
  5. Initiate the data transfer. Select Transfer from iPhone to begin moving your data directly between devices. Keep both devices close and connected to power until the progress bar completes.
  6. Complete the setup. Once the transfer is complete, follow the final on-screen prompts for location settings, Siri, and Apple Pay. The new iPhone will restart and sync your installed applications from the App Store.
