How to Enable One-Handed Mode on iPhone Keyboard

Maximize typing efficiency on your iPhone by enabling the one-handed keyboard mode. Follow these steps to shift the layout for easier reach.

  1. Access any text input field. Open an application like Notes, Messages, or Mail. Tap any text field to trigger the appearance of the on-screen keyboard.
  2. Locate the Emoji or Globe icon. Look at the bottom-left corner of your keyboard. Press and hold the Emoji icon or the Globe icon until a pop-up menu appears above your finger.
  3. Select the keyboard alignment. While holding the icon, slide your finger to the Keyboard Layout section. Select the icon representing the left-aligned keyboard or the right-aligned keyboard based on your preference.
  4. Restore the full-width keyboard. To return to the standard keyboard layout, tap the large arrow that appears in the empty space beside the shrunken keyboard. The layout will expand to fill the width of the display.
