How to Prevent iPhone Apps from Tracking Your Activity

Stop third-party apps from tracking your activity across other companies' apps and websites with these specific iOS privacy settings.

  1. Open Privacy settings. Launch the Settings app from your Home Screen. Scroll down and tap Privacy & Security to access the central hub for data permissions.
  2. Access Tracking controls. Tap the Tracking menu option located near the top of the list. This section displays a master toggle and a list of every app that has requested permission to track your activity.
  3. Disable global tracking requests. Locate the Allow Apps to Request to Track toggle. Switch this toggle to the off position to automatically deny all future tracking requests from new apps without a prompt.
  4. Revoke existing permissions. Review the list of apps currently toggled on under the Allow Apps to Request to Track section. Manually toggle off any specific app you wish to block from cross-platform tracking.
  5. Review individual app permissions. Go back to the main Settings menu. Scroll down to find specific apps to ensure no secondary data access settings, such as Location Services or Bluetooth, remain enabled if you want maximum privacy.
