How to set emergency contacts on iPhone

Configure your Emergency Contacts on iPhone to ensure first responders can notify your family during an emergency. Follow these steps to set it up.

  1. Open the Health app. Locate and open the Health app from your Home Screen or App Library. This app serves as the centralized hub for your medical identification data.
  2. Access your medical profile. Tap your profile icon located in the top-right corner of the summary screen. Select Medical ID to view and edit your emergency details.
  3. Enter edit mode. Tap the Edit button in the top-right corner of the Medical ID screen. Scroll down to the Emergency Contacts section to modify your list.
  4. Add a new contact. Tap the green plus icon labeled add emergency contact. Select a person from your contacts list and choose their relationship to you from the provided menu.
  5. Finalize your changes. Tap Done in the top-right corner to save your configuration. Your device will now automatically notify these contacts if you trigger an Emergency SOS alert.
