How to Take a Screenshot on iPhone

Master the essential methods for capturing your iPhone screen, including standard button combinations and advanced accessibility gestures.

  1. Capture on iPhones with Face ID. Locate the Side button on the right edge and the Volume Up button on the left edge of your device. Press and release both buttons simultaneously. The screen will flash white and a thumbnail will appear in the bottom-left corner.
  2. Capture on iPhones with a Home Button. Identify the Side (or Top) button and the circular Home button at the bottom of the device face. Press both buttons at the exact same time. The screen capture is successful when the display flashes.
  3. Utilize Back Tap for accessibility. Navigate to Settings > Accessibility > Touch. Scroll to the bottom, select Back Tap, and choose Double Tap or Triple Tap. Assign Screenshot from the list to trigger a capture by tapping the back of your iPhone.
  4. Markup and save your image. Tap the thumbnail that appears after capture to open the editor. Use the provided pens and shapes to annotate your image or tap the Share icon to send it directly to an app. Tap Done and select Save to Photos or Save to Files to store the capture.
  5. Locate saved captures. Open the Photos app and navigate to the Albums tab. Scroll down to the Media Types section and select Screenshots. All captures are organized here automatically for easy retrieval.
