How to Scan Documents Using the iPhone Notes App
Learn to capture, crop, and save physical documents as digital PDFs directly from your iPhone using the built-in Notes camera tool.
- Open the Notes application. Launch the Notes app from your Home Screen or App Library. Tap the Compose icon in the bottom right corner to initiate a new note or select an existing note from your list.
- Access the Camera tool. Tap the Camera icon displayed in the toolbar above the keyboard. Select Scan Documents from the pop-up menu to launch the document capture interface.
- Scan the document. Position your iPhone directly over the document. The system will automatically detect the paper boundaries and capture the image; if it does not, tap the white Shutter button manually to capture the frame.
- Adjust corners and crop. After the scan is captured, tap the thumbnail image in the corner to enter the edit view. Drag the circular handles at the corners of the document to adjust the perspective and crop lines, then tap Keep Scan.
- Save the scan. Once all pages are captured, tap Save in the bottom right corner. The documents will be embedded into your note as a single PDF file.
