How to Review and Manage App Permissions on iPhone

Secure your data by auditing app permissions on your iPhone. Follow these steps to restrict access to your camera, microphone, photos, and location services.

  1. Open Privacy settings. Launch the Settings app from your Home Screen. Scroll down and select Privacy & Security to access the central hub for permission management.
  2. Review permission categories. Select a specific category, such as Location Services, Camera, or Microphone. This displays a list of every app that has requested access to that hardware or data type.
  3. Modify application access. Tap on an individual application name within the category list. Select your preferred access level, such as 'Never,' 'Ask Next Time,' or 'While Using the App,' to update the permission immediately.
  4. Audit app-specific permissions. Alternatively, scroll to the bottom of the main Settings menu to find a list of all installed apps. Tap on a specific app to view and toggle all permissions granted to it in one single view.
  5. Check App Privacy Report. Return to the Privacy & Security menu and select App Privacy Report. This provides a summary of how apps have used their permissions over the last seven days, highlighting potential security anomalies.
