How to Protect iPhone Notifications on the Lock Screen

Secure your private data by restricting notification previews on your iPhone Lock Screen. Follow these steps to manage your privacy settings.

  1. Open the Settings application. Locate and tap the Settings icon on your Home Screen. Scroll down and select the Notifications menu to access global alert preferences.
  2. Adjust Show Previews settings. Tap the Show Previews option at the top of the Notifications screen. This setting controls when notification content appears on the display.
  3. Set preview behavior to When Unlocked. Select the When Unlocked option. This ensures that notification banners, message snippets, and alerts remain hidden while the device is locked.
  4. Customize individual application alerts. Return to the main Notifications menu and select specific applications that handle sensitive information. Ensure that Lock Screen remains checked under the Alerts section to maintain visibility without compromising privacy.
  5. Test the new lock screen security. Lock your iPhone by pressing the side button. Trigger a notification from another device to confirm that the content is masked or hidden until Face ID or Touch ID authenticates your identity.
