How to Transfer Signal Messages to a New iPhone

Use the Signal migration tool to securely move your message history, contacts, and account data to a new iPhone. Follow this step-by-step guide.

  1. Enable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Ensure both iPhones are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Verify that Bluetooth is enabled on both devices via Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Install Signal on the new iPhone. Download Signal from the App Store on your new device. Do not open the application or register your phone number yet.
  3. Start the migration process. Open Signal on the new iPhone. Select Transfer from iOS Device when prompted during the initial setup sequence.
  4. Authorize the transfer. On your old iPhone, a prompt will appear asking to confirm the transfer. Tap Transfer to begin the pairing process between the two devices.
  5. Scan the QR code. Use the camera on your old iPhone to scan the QR code displayed on the new iPhone's screen. The devices will establish a secure connection for data transfer.
  6. Complete account registration. Follow the on-screen prompts on the new iPhone to verify your phone number. Once verified, the migration of your message history will proceed automatically.
