How to Transfer an eSIM to a New iPhone

Learn how to move your existing eSIM to a new iPhone during setup or via Settings using Quick Transfer and eSIM Migration tools.

  1. Prepare your current iPhone. Ensure your old iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS. Verify that both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled and that both devices are placed near each other.
  2. Initiate the setup process. Power on your new iPhone and follow the initial setup instructions. When you reach the Set Up Cellular screen, select Transfer from nearby iPhone if prompted.
  3. Confirm the transfer on the old iPhone. A prompt will appear on your old iPhone asking to transfer your phone number. Tap Transfer to authorize the migration of your eSIM profile to the new hardware.
  4. Finalize the activation. Wait for the cellular activation to complete on your new iPhone. Once the process is finished, the signal strength indicator will appear in the top-right corner of the status bar.
  5. Verify cellular connectivity. Make a test call or open Safari to ensure your data connection is active. Once confirmed, you can safely erase your old iPhone.
