How to Reduce System Data on iPhone

Learn how to reclaim storage space by clearing excessive System Data on your iPhone. Follow these steps to optimize your device and improve performance.

  1. Check storage usage. Navigate to Settings, select General, and tap iPhone Storage. Scroll to the bottom and view the System Data bar to confirm it is consuming excessive space.
  2. Clear Safari cache. Go to Settings, scroll down to Safari, and tap Clear History and Website Data. Select All History and confirm by tapping Clear History.
  3. Adjust Message retention settings. Open Settings, tap Messages, and scroll to Keep Messages. Change the setting from Forever to 30 Days to automatically prune old attachments and metadata.
