How to Change Default Apps on iPhone

Learn how to change your default browser and email client on iOS. Customize your iPhone experience by setting your preferred apps as system defaults.

  1. Open the Settings app. Locate and tap the Settings icon on your Home Screen or App Library. Ensure your device is unlocked and on the primary Home screen interface.
  2. Find the target application. Scroll down through the Settings menu until you reach the list of installed third-party applications. Tap the name of the browser or email app you wish to set as your default.
  3. Select the default setting. Tap the menu labeled 'Default Browser App' or 'Default Email App' located within the app-specific settings page. A list of compatible apps installed on your device will appear.
  4. Apply the change. Tap the name of your preferred application in the list. A blue checkmark will appear next to the selection, confirming the system has updated your preference.
