How to Turn On Hey Siri on iPhone
Enable Hey Siri voice activation on your iPhone. Step-by-step instructions to set up and use Apple's voice assistant.
- Open Settings on your iPhone. Press the home button or swipe up from the bottom of the screen to access the home screen. Tap the Settings app—it has a gray icon with gears. Wait for Settings to load completely.
- Navigate to Siri & Search settings. Scroll down and tap "Siri & Search." This section controls all Siri activation methods and search behavior on your device.
- Turn on Listen for "Hey Siri". Locate the toggle switch next to "Listen for 'Hey Siri'" and tap it. The switch turns green when enabled. This activates voice recognition so Siri listens for the wake phrase continuously.
- Complete the Siri voice training. A dialog appears asking you to train Siri to recognize your voice. Tap "Continue" and follow the on-screen prompts. Say "Hey Siri" three times when prompted. Speak naturally and clearly each time.
- Test Hey Siri activation. Exit Settings and go to the home screen. Say "Hey Siri" clearly. The Siri interface should appear with a waveform animation at the bottom of your screen. Ask a simple question like "What time is it?" to confirm it's working.
- Optional: Adjust additional Siri settings. Return to Settings > Siri & Search. You can enable "Press Side Button for Siri" to activate Siri by holding the side button. You can also toggle "Press Home for Siri" on older models, or adjust "Siri Responses" to control audio feedback.
