How to Configure the iPhone Action Button

Learn to customize the Action Button on your iPhone 15 Pro, 16, or later models to launch apps, triggers, or system shortcuts instantly.

1. Open Action Button settings. Open the Settings app from your Home Screen. Scroll down and tap on the Action Button menu item to view the customization interface.
2. Select your primary action. Swipe left or right through the carousel of available actions. You can select Silent Mode, Focus, Camera, Flashlight, Voice Memo, Magnifier, Shortcut, or Accessibility features.
3. Specify the action parameters. If you choose a complex action like Camera or Shortcut, a secondary menu appears below the carousel. Tap this menu to define specific settings, such as opening a specific camera mode or executing a pre-built automation.
4. Verify the button function. Exit the Settings app to your Home Screen or any app. Press and hold the Action Button firmly for approximately one second to trigger your assigned action.
