How to set up Medical ID on iPhone

Learn how to configure your Medical ID on iPhone to provide essential health information to first responders directly from the Lock Screen.

  1. Open the Health application. Locate and open the Health app from your Home Screen. If you cannot find it, swipe down from the center of your screen and type 'Health' into the search bar.
  2. Access your profile picture. Tap your profile icon located in the top-right corner of the summary tab. This opens your personal health management settings.
  3. Enter the Medical ID menu. Select the 'Medical ID' option listed under the Features section. Tap 'Get Started' if this is your first time configuring the profile.
  4. Add health details. Enter your medical conditions, allergies, medications, and blood type. Be concise and prioritize information that is vital for emergency medical treatment.
  5. Enable emergency access. Ensure the 'Show When Locked' toggle is set to ON. This allows first responders to view your Medical ID by swiping on your Lock Screen without needing your passcode.
  6. Save your profile. Review your entered information for accuracy. Tap 'Done' in the top-right corner to save and apply the settings to your device.
