How to Set Up iPhone Hotspot
Enable and configure iPhone Personal Hotspot to share your cellular data connection with other devices. Step-by-step setup guide for iOS.
- Check your cellular plan. Contact your carrier or check your account to confirm Personal Hotspot is included in your plan. Most carriers require a specific plan or charge extra for hotspot usage. Some carriers automatically include it, while others may need to activate it on your account.
- Open Settings and tap Cellular. Launch the Settings app from your home screen. Scroll down and tap Cellular. If you have multiple lines, select the line you want to use for the hotspot.
- Tap Personal Hotspot. In the Cellular menu, tap Personal Hotspot. If you don't see this option, your carrier may not support it or it may not be activated on your account. Contact your carrier if the option is missing.
- Enable Allow Others to Join. Toggle on Allow Others to Join at the top of the Personal Hotspot screen. Your iPhone will immediately start broadcasting a Wi-Fi network with the name shown under 'To Connect Using Wi-Fi'.
- Set a strong Wi-Fi password. Tap Wi-Fi Password and enter a secure password of at least 8 characters. Use a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols. This password protects your hotspot from unauthorized access.
- Configure connection method. Choose how other devices will connect. Wi-Fi provides the fastest speeds and supports multiple devices. USB connection offers more stable connectivity for one device. Bluetooth uses less battery but provides slower speeds.
- Connect your devices. On the device you want to connect, go to Wi-Fi settings and select your iPhone's network name. Enter the password you created. The device should connect and show internet access within a few seconds.
