How to Securely Configure Face ID on iPhone
Learn the precise steps to set up Face ID on your iPhone for secure biometric authentication and optimal privacy protection.
- Navigate to Face ID settings. Open the Settings app on your iPhone. Scroll down and select Face ID & Passcode. Enter your current device passcode when prompted to access the secure menu.
- Start the facial scan process. Tap Set Up Face ID. Hold the iPhone in portrait orientation, position your face within the camera frame, and tap Get Started. Keep your head steady as the TrueDepth camera system initializes.
- Complete the facial rotations. Slowly move your head in a circular motion to allow the sensors to capture all angles of your face. Continue until the progress indicator circle is complete. Tap Continue to begin the second required scan.
- Confirm the Face ID scan. Perform the second scan by repeating the circular head movement until the process completes. Once the final prompt appears, tap Done to save the biometric profile to the Secure Enclave.
- Define Face ID usage permissions. Under the Use Face ID For section, toggle the switches for iPhone Unlock, iTunes & App Store, Wallet & Apple Pay, and Password Autofill. This ensures Face ID is active for your specific security requirements.
