How to set up Apple Pay on iPhone

Follow this guide to securely add credit or debit cards to your iPhone and start using Apple Pay for contactless payments in stores and apps.

  1. Open the Wallet application. Locate and tap the Wallet icon on your Home Screen. If you cannot find it, swipe down from the center of the Home Screen and type 'Wallet' into the Spotlight search bar.
  2. Initiate card addition. Tap the blue plus (+) button located in the top right corner of the Wallet interface. Select 'Debit or Credit Card' from the list of options to begin the card registration process.
  3. Provide payment card details. Position your physical card within the frame on your screen to scan the details automatically. If the camera does not capture the numbers, select 'Enter Card Details Manually' at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Complete issuer verification. Follow the on-screen prompts provided by your bank to verify your identity. This typically requires entering a code sent via SMS, email, or using your bank's dedicated mobile application.
  5. Set default payment method. Once the card is approved, tap 'Done' to finalize the setup. If you wish to use this as your primary payment method, navigate to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay and select 'Default Card' to choose your new addition.
