How to set up an Apple ID on a new iPhone
Learn to configure your Apple ID on a new iPhone during setup or via Settings to access iCloud, the App Store, and Apple services.
- Start the initial setup process. Power on your iPhone and follow the on-screen prompts until you reach the Apps & Data screen. Select Forgot password or don't have an Apple ID, then choose Create a Free Apple ID to begin the registration process.
- Enter your personal details. Input your first name, last name, and date of birth when prompted. Ensure the birth date is accurate, as it determines content restrictions and account recovery options.
- Select your email address. Choose to use your current email address as your Apple ID or request a free @icloud.com email address. This address will serve as the primary identifier for your account across all Apple services.
- Establish your account password. Create a strong password that meets the minimum security requirements provided on the screen. Confirm the password to proceed and ensure it is saved in a secure location or your password manager.
- Verify your identity. Enter your mobile phone number to enable two-factor authentication. Apple will send a six-digit verification code to this number via SMS or an automated voice call to confirm your identity.
- Accept terms and conditions. Review the Terms and Conditions for iCloud and Apple services. Tap Agree in the bottom right corner to finalize the creation of your Apple ID and sign in to your new device.
