How to Set Up AirPods with iPhone
Connect your AirPods to iPhone in seconds. Step-by-step setup guide for all AirPods models including Pro and Max versions.
- Enable Bluetooth on your iPhone. Open Settings and tap Bluetooth. Toggle the Bluetooth switch to the on position if it's not already enabled. The toggle should appear green when active.
- Place AirPods near your iPhone. Hold the AirPods case within a few inches of your unlocked iPhone. For AirPods Max, hold the headphones close to your device instead of using a case.
- Open the AirPods case. Flip open the lid of your AirPods case with both earbuds inside. Keep the case open and nearby your iPhone. For AirPods Max, press and hold the noise control button and Digital Crown simultaneously until the status light flashes white.
- Tap Connect on the setup animation. A setup card will appear on your iPhone screen showing an animation of your specific AirPods model. Tap the Connect button to begin pairing. If no card appears, press and hold the setup button on the back of the AirPods case until the status light flashes white.
- Complete the setup process. Follow the on-screen prompts to configure Siri access and enable automatic ear detection. Tap Done when the setup is complete. Your AirPods will now appear in the Bluetooth settings as Connected.
- Test the connection. Put both AirPods in your ears and play audio from any app. The sound should automatically route to your AirPods. Check the battery level by opening Control Center or asking Siri.
