How to Transfer WhatsApp Data from Android to iPhone

Learn the secure method to move your WhatsApp chat history, media, and settings from an Android device to a new iPhone using Move to iOS.

  1. Initialize the transfer process. Download and install the Move to iOS app on your Android device from the Google Play Store. Ensure your iPhone is at the factory reset state or the initial setup screen, as the migration can only occur during the setup process.
  2. Link devices via the setup assistant. Follow the on-screen prompts on your iPhone until you reach the Apps & Data screen. Select Move Data from Android and note the security code displayed on the iPhone screen.
  3. Verify the connection. Open the Move to iOS app on your Android device and enter the code displayed on your iPhone. Once connected, your Android device will establish a peer-to-peer Wi-Fi connection with the iPhone.
  4. Choose WhatsApp for migration. On the Transfer Data screen on your Android phone, select WhatsApp from the list of available data categories. Tap Start to initiate the verification process within WhatsApp on your Android device.
  5. Complete the data transfer. Tap Next to return to the Move to iOS app, then tap Continue to begin the transfer. Wait for the loading bar to complete on your iPhone, regardless of whether the Android device indicates the process is finished.
  6. Finalize WhatsApp on iPhone. Once the iPhone setup is complete, download WhatsApp from the App Store and sign in using the same phone number used on your Android device. Tap Start when prompted to import your chat history and follow the final configuration prompts.
