How to sign in to your Apple ID on a new iPhone

Follow these steps to securely sign in to your Apple ID on a new iPhone during setup or via Settings to sync your data and services.

  1. Initiate the sign-in process. If you are setting up a new device, follow the on-screen prompts until you reach the Apple ID sign-in screen. If your iPhone is already set up, open the Settings app and tap Sign in to your iPhone at the top of the menu.
  2. Enter your credentials. Enter your Apple ID email address or phone number when prompted. Input your password carefully, ensuring that case sensitivity is maintained.
  3. Complete two-factor authentication. Check your existing trusted device for a six-digit verification code. Enter this code into the prompt on your new iPhone to authorize the sign-in request.
  4. Enter device passcode. The system may request the passcode of a previously used device linked to your Apple ID. Enter the current passcode you use for your other Apple devices to grant permission for data syncing.
  5. Choose iCloud synchronization settings. Select which services, such as Photos, Contacts, and Keychain, you wish to sync to your new iPhone. Toggle these settings on or off based on your storage preferences and tap Merge to combine your data with existing local information.
