Follow this step-by-step guide to activate cellular service on your new iPhone using physical SIM cards or eSIM technology.

  1. Open the Cellular settings menu. Navigate to the Settings app from your Home Screen. Tap Cellular to access the connectivity configuration panel.
  2. Choose your activation method. Select Add eSIM to begin the digital activation process. If you are using a physical SIM card, insert it into the SIM tray located on the side of the device before proceeding.
  3. Transfer or scan carrier details. Choose Transfer from nearby iPhone to move your number wirelessly, or select Use QR Code to scan the activation card provided by your carrier. Follow the on-screen prompts to authenticate the request.
  4. Complete carrier authorization. Enter any confirmation codes or credentials provided by your carrier if prompted. Wait for the status indicator to transition from searching to your carrier's name in the top status bar.
  5. Verify cellular data settings. Navigate back to Settings > Cellular and confirm that Cellular Data is toggled to the On position. Tap Cellular Data Options to ensure Data Roaming is configured according to your service plan requirements.
