Transfer Your Data to a New iPhone Using Quick Start
Seamlessly move all data from your old iPhone to a new one with the Quick Start feature. Follow these simple steps.
- Prepare Your Devices. Ensure both your old iPhone and new iPhone are updated to the latest compatible iOS versions. Turn on Bluetooth on your old iPhone. Connect both devices to a power source, as the transfer process can be lengthy.
- Power On Your New iPhone. Turn on your new iPhone. The 'Hello' screen will appear. If you have already set up your new iPhone, you will need to erase it to use Quick Start. Erase your device by going to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings.
- Initiate Quick Start. Place your new iPhone near your current iPhone. A 'Set Up New iPhone' screen will appear on your current iPhone, offering the option to use your Apple ID to set up the new device. Tap 'Continue'.
- Authenticate with Animation. An animation will appear on your new iPhone. Hold your old iPhone over the new iPhone to scan the animation. Once scanned, a 'Finish on New iPhone' message will appear on your old iPhone. Enter your old iPhone's passcode on your new iPhone.
- Configure Face ID or Touch ID. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up Face ID or Touch ID on your new iPhone. This process mirrors the setup on your old device and ensures device security and biometric authentication.
- Transfer Your Data. You will be presented with the option to 'Transfer from iPhone' or 'Download from iCloud.' Select 'Transfer from iPhone' for a direct device-to-device transfer. Ensure both devices remain connected to Wi-Fi and power throughout this process.
- Complete Setup. Once the data transfer is complete, your new iPhone will restart. Remove your old iPhone from your Apple ID. Your new iPhone is now ready for use with all your apps, data, and settings transferred.
