How to Transfer Your Phone Number to a New iPhone
Transfer your existing phone number to your new iPhone using eSIM Quick Transfer or a physical SIM card swap. Ensure seamless service activation.
- Verify your current device connection. Ensure your old iPhone is powered on, unlocked, and connected to a stable Wi-Fi network. Bluetooth must also be enabled to facilitate the data transfer process between devices.
- Begin the Quick Start process. Power on your new iPhone and place it next to your current iPhone. Follow the on-screen prompts until you reach the Set Up New iPhone screen, then tap Continue on your current device.
- Transfer the cellular plan. When prompted to Set Up Cellular, select the phone number associated with your account from the list. If your carrier supports eSIM Quick Transfer, follow the on-screen instructions to authorize the transfer.
- Confirm the activation request. Your current iPhone will display a notification asking to confirm the transfer. Tap Transfer to authorize the movement of your phone number to the new hardware.
- Complete cellular activation. Once the transfer initiates, wait for the status bar on the new iPhone to show that the cellular plan is active. You will receive a notification on both devices once the number has successfully migrated.
- Test connectivity. Turn off Wi-Fi on your new iPhone and attempt to load a webpage or send an iMessage. If the data connection is active, your phone number transfer is complete.
