How to Customize iCloud Sync Settings on iPhone

Learn how to precisely control which apps and data sync to iCloud on your iPhone to manage storage space and privacy effectively.

  1. Access your Apple ID settings. Open the Settings app from your Home Screen. Tap your name at the very top of the menu to open the Apple ID configuration panel.
  2. Open the iCloud menu. Within the Apple ID menu, tap on iCloud. This displays an overview of your current storage usage and a comprehensive list of all apps syncing data.
  3. View all syncing applications. Tap the Show All button located under the Apps Using iCloud section. This reveals every installed application currently permitted to write data to your iCloud account.
  4. Toggle individual app sync. Locate the specific application you wish to manage. Tap the toggle switch to the right of the app name to disable or enable iCloud synchronization for that data set.
  5. Manage iCloud Drive documents. Return to the main iCloud menu and select iCloud Drive. Toggle the switch for Sync this iPhone to disable all document syncing, or tap Apps Syncing to iCloud Drive to manage specific file-sharing permissions.
  6. Confirm storage changes. Navigate back to the main iCloud menu. Observe the storage bar at the top to see how your changes have affected your total iCloud storage utilization.
