How to Configure a Stronger iPhone Passcode
Upgrade your iPhone security by switching from a 6-digit PIN to a complex alphanumeric passcode. Follow these steps to secure your data.
- Access Passcode Settings. Open the Settings app. Scroll down and tap Face ID & Passcode or Touch ID & Passcode, depending on your device model.
- Enter Current Credentials. Enter your existing passcode when prompted to authenticate your access to the security settings menu.
- Initiate Passcode Change. Locate and tap the Change Passcode option. When prompted, enter your current passcode one final time.
- Access Passcode Options. Tap Passcode Options located just above the numeric keypad. A menu will appear displaying the available formats.
- Choose Custom Alphanumeric Code. Select Custom Alphanumeric Code. This setting allows for the use of letters, numbers, and symbols in your new password.
- Set New Passcode. Enter your new, complex password. Tap Next, then re-enter the password to verify accuracy and tap Done to save changes.
