How to Fix iPhone Stuck on Apple Logo
Fix your iPhone stuck on the Apple logo with force restart, recovery mode, and DFU mode. Step-by-step solutions for all iPhone models.
- Force restart your iPhone. For iPhone 8 and newer: Press and quickly release Volume Up, press and quickly release Volume Down, then press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears. For iPhone 7/7 Plus: Hold Volume Down and Side button together for 10 seconds. For iPhone 6s and older: Hold Home and Top/Side button together for 10 seconds.
- Check your charging cable and power source. Connect your iPhone to a reliable power source using an Apple-certified Lightning cable. Let it charge for at least 15 minutes before attempting another restart. A completely drained battery can cause boot loop issues.
- Enter Recovery Mode. Connect your iPhone to a computer with iTunes or Finder open. Perform the force restart sequence but continue holding the final button until you see the recovery mode screen. Your computer will detect the iPhone in recovery mode and offer update or restore options.
- Update iOS through Recovery Mode. In iTunes or Finder, click 'Update' when prompted. Your computer will download and install the latest iOS version compatible with your device. Keep your iPhone connected throughout this process, which typically takes 15-30 minutes.
- Use DFU Mode if Recovery Mode fails. Enter Device Firmware Update mode by connecting to computer, then: For iPhone 8+: Press Volume Up, press Volume Down, hold Side button for 3 seconds, then add Volume Down while continuing to hold Side button for 10 seconds, release Side button but keep holding Volume Down for 5 more seconds. Your screen stays black in DFU mode.
- Restore iPhone firmware. With your iPhone in DFU mode, iTunes or Finder will detect it and prompt you to restore. Click 'Restore' to completely erase and reinstall iOS. This process removes all data, so ensure you have a recent backup in iCloud or iTunes.
