How to Fix iPhone Not Connecting to WiFi

Fix iPhone WiFi connection issues with these proven troubleshooting steps. Resolve network problems, reset settings, and restore connectivity quickly.

  1. Toggle WiFi off and back on. Open Settings > WiFi. Tap the toggle to turn WiFi off, wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on. Your iPhone will scan for available networks and attempt to reconnect automatically.
  2. Forget and rejoin the network. In Settings > WiFi, tap the information icon (i) next to your network name. Tap 'Forget This Network' and confirm. Select the network again from the list and enter your password to reconnect.
  3. Restart your iPhone. Press and hold the side button and volume up button simultaneously until the power slider appears. Drag the slider to turn off your iPhone. After 30 seconds, press the side button to restart.
  4. Reset network settings. Navigate to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Enter your passcode when prompted. This clears all saved WiFi passwords, cellular settings, and VPN configurations.
  5. Update iOS software. Open Settings > General > Software Update. If an update is available, tap 'Download and Install.' Connect to power and ensure you have adequate battery before starting the update process.
  6. Check router and modem connections. Unplug your WiFi router and modem for 30 seconds, then plug the modem back in first. Wait 2 minutes, then plug in the router. Test other devices to confirm the network is broadcasting properly.
  7. Contact Apple Support for hardware diagnosis. If WiFi still fails after software troubleshooting, schedule an appointment at an Apple Store or contact Apple Support. Hardware issues with the WiFi antenna may require professional repair.
