How to use iPad Markup for visual feedback
Master iPad Markup tools to provide professional visual feedback on documents, images, and screenshots with precise annotations and shapes.
- Access the Markup toolbar. Open your target file in Files, Photos, or Mail. Tap the Markup icon, which resembles a pen tip inside a circle, to trigger the floating toolbar.
- Select your writing instrument. Tap one of the pens, markers, or pencils in the toolbar to begin annotating. Tap the selected tool a second time to adjust the stroke thickness and opacity for clearer visual feedback.
- Insert shapes and callouts. Tap the plus (+) icon on the toolbar to add squares, circles, arrows, or speech bubbles. Drag the blue handles on the shapes to resize them or move them to highlight specific areas of feedback.
- Add text and signatures. Select the Text tool (T) from the plus (+) menu to type precise feedback notes. Use the Signature option to insert a pre-saved digital signature if you are finalizing an approval document.
- Modify or remove annotations. Use the Lasso tool (the dotted circle) to select multiple annotations at once to move or delete them. Tap the Eraser tool to remove specific strokes, or tap the Undo button to reverse your last action.
- Finalize and share your feedback. Tap Done in the top-left corner to save your changes to the original file. Use the Share icon in the top-right corner to email or message the annotated file to your recipient.
