How to set a stronger iPad passcode
Secure your iPad by switching from a 4-digit code to a custom alphanumeric passcode. Follow these steps to maximize device security.
- Open Face ID & Passcode settings. Launch the Settings app from your Home Screen. Tap Face ID & Passcode or Touch ID & Passcode in the left-hand sidebar, then enter your current passcode to proceed.
- Initiate the passcode change. Scroll down and tap Change Passcode. Input your existing passcode when prompted to authenticate your identity.
- Access Passcode Options. When prompted to enter your new passcode, tap Passcode Options located just above the numeric keypad. A menu will appear with alternative security formats.
- Select a Custom Alphanumeric Code. Select Custom Alphanumeric Code from the list. This selection allows you to use a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols for maximum security.
- Define your new passcode. Enter your new alphanumeric passcode. Tap Next, then re-enter the code to verify accuracy. Tap Done to apply the changes to your system.
