How to Limit Location Access on iPad

Take control of your privacy by managing location permissions for apps on your iPad. Follow this guide to restrict or disable tracking.

  1. Open Privacy Settings. Launch the Settings app from your Home Screen. Scroll down the left-hand sidebar and tap on Privacy & Security.
  2. Access Location Services. Tap the Location Services menu item located at the top of the Privacy & Security list. Ensure the main Location Services toggle is set to On to manage individual app permissions.
  3. Select the Target Application. Review the list of installed applications under the Location Services menu. Tap on any app to adjust its specific access level.
  4. Adjust Location Permissions. Choose from the available options: Never, Ask Next Time Or When I Share, While Using the App, or Always. Select Never to completely revoke the app's ability to see your location.
  5. Disable Precise Location. For apps that require a general area rather than an exact coordinate, toggle the Precise Location switch to Off. This provides the app with your approximate location only.
  6. Review System Services. Scroll to the bottom of the Location Services list and tap System Services. Review and toggle off specific system-level tracking features such as Compass Calibration or Location-Based Alerts as needed.
