How to locate a lost iPad using Find My

Use the Find My network to track, lock, or erase your misplaced iPad remotely from any Apple device or web browser.

  1. Access the Find My interface. Open the Find My app on another Apple device signed into your Apple ID. Alternatively, navigate to iCloud.com/find in any web browser and sign in with your Apple ID credentials.
  2. Select your iPad from the device list. Locate the Devices tab at the bottom of the screen in the Find My app. Select your specific iPad model from the list to view its current location on the map.
  3. Get directions to the device. Tap the Directions button to launch Maps. This will provide turn-by-turn navigation to the last reported location of your iPad.
  4. Play a sound to locate nearby. If the iPad is nearby but hidden, select Play Sound. The device will emit an escalating chime until you unlock it or dismiss the alert.
  5. Enable Lost Mode. Select Activate under the Mark As Lost section. Enter a contact phone number and a custom message that will appear on the iPad's lock screen to assist a finder in returning it.
  6. Erase your device remotely. If the device cannot be recovered, select Erase This Device. This action permanently deletes all personal data from the iPad and prevents further unauthorized access.
