How to AirDrop files from your iPad

Learn how to share photos, documents, and videos quickly between your iPad and other Apple devices using AirDrop. Follow our step-by-step guide.

  1. Configure your AirDrop settings. Open the Settings app on your iPad. Navigate to General, tap AirDrop, and select Contacts Only or Everyone for 10 Minutes to ensure your device is discoverable by the recipient.
  2. Select the file to share. Open the app containing the file, photo, or document you wish to transfer. Tap the Share icon, which is represented by a square with an upward-pointing arrow.
  3. Initiate the AirDrop transfer. Tap the AirDrop button located in the share sheet. A list of nearby devices with AirDrop enabled will appear; tap the icon of the intended recipient.
  4. Verify the successful transfer. Once the file is sent, the status indicator under the recipient's icon will change to Sent. The receiving device will prompt the user to accept the incoming file.
