How to Configure and Manage Widgets on iPad
Learn to add, stack, and customize widgets on your iPad home screen to streamline your workflow and access information at a glance.
- Enter Home Screen edit mode. Touch and hold any empty area on your Home Screen or on a widget until the application icons begin to jiggle. This activates edit mode, allowing you to modify your Home Screen layout.
- Select and add a widget. Tap the plus (+) icon located in the top-left corner of the display to open the Widget Gallery. Browse the available widgets by category or use the search bar, then tap the specific widget you wish to add.
- Position the widget. Swipe through the size options for your chosen widget, then tap Add Widget. Once the widget appears on your Home Screen, drag it to your preferred location among your existing application icons.
- Create a Smart Stack. Drag one widget directly on top of another widget of the same size to create a stack. You can combine up to ten widgets into a single stack to save space while maintaining easy access to multiple tools.
- Edit widget preferences. While in edit mode, tap an existing widget to reveal its specific configuration options, such as changing a city in a Weather widget or a calendar feed in the Calendar widget. Adjust the parameters as needed and tap outside the widget to save your changes.
- Commit layout changes. Press the Done button in the top-right corner of the display or press the Home button (or swipe up from the bottom edge on devices without a Home button) to exit edit mode.
